Shortage of staff, lack of classrooms affects education at Higher Secondary School, Khari | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 18: Despite claims of improvement in the education sector in Jammu & Kashmir complaints about lack of classrooms and absence of teaching staff in government educational institutions continue to come in from different parts of the union territory. For around 700 students of Government Higher Secondary School, Khari in Ramban district there are five to six classrooms. Due to the shortage of space some of the classes are conducted out in the open and if the weather is inclement the education goes for a six. The students receiving education at the school said that the teachers as well as lecturers are not available at the school. The Principal of the school said that 10 posts of lecturers are vacant at the school. He said that he utilizes the services of the available staff so that the education of schools does not suffer. Some of the students urged Deputy Commissioner Ramban to put in place a bus service since some of the students have to come from far-off places of the district. They demanded placement of subject specific teachers or lecturers so that they can take up subjects which they want to. |
