Unique Public School celebrates Earth Day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 22: "Let's join hands on Earth Day to make our earth a better place with the theme "Invest in our planet for 2022 - to live in". With this thought the morning at Unique Public Sr. Sec. School Gadigarh Jammu was reverberated with excitement and enthusiasm of their students who were all geared up to create awareness on the environment thus celebrating the occasion of Earth Day. The start of the program was from Primary Wing where 1st and 2nd classes were made aware with props regarding the Earth then it was followed by Nature Walk, speeches and plantation drive from Sr. Sec. Wing. Chairman Jasbir Singh blessed students and said "each person can contribute in their specific manner to make this day a success". While giving information he also said this day was announced by Gaylord Nelson, former politician of the US and conservationist, in 1970 when there was huge damage to the environment caused by the oil explosion. Trustee Nirlep Kour while showering blessings on this pious occasion said that this day is celebrated to honour our mother earth and create awareness of the need to protect her. Principal Ravinder Kour expressed her views that in our solar system earth is the only planet that sustains life. Earth day is celebrated to protect the earth from all man made harm. Administrator Meenakshi Sharma shared her views that we can also take part in the earth day movement by using less electricity, saving tap water, throwing waste items in the garbage box, not pouring polluting chemicals in the washroom drains. At last a vote of thanks was given by the Coordinator of the school, Arti Rajput. With the slogan, Go green or we all will scream! |
