JMC awarded 2nd prize in terms of Material Recovery Facility: Mayor

JAMMU, Apr 26: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Chander Mohan Gupta today said that various initiatives have been taken by JMC to make Jammu neat, clean, green & garbage/ plastic free city.
Addressing a press conference the Mayor in presence of Hardeep Singh Mankotia, Chairman Swacch Bharat committee JMC, Ajay Gupta Chairman Social Justice Committee JMC said that JMC has been awarded 2nd prize in terms of Material Recovery Facility (MRF) after Orissa. The award will be given to JMC on 28th of April 2022.
The Mayor said that after the 74th constitutional amendment by the Govt. and transfer of functions & functionaries of various departments including Jal Shakti, JPDCL etc. all the councillors in coordination with concerned officers are working tirelessly in a transparent manner to provide best possible amenities in each ward irrespective of any caste, creed or religion.
"In order to resolve the major issues which the citizens of Jammu are facing in this hot weather condition regarding poor supply of drinking water, I have personally conducted number of meetings and directed the concerned to release the required number of funds for repair & other allied works regarding PHE on urgent basis. Besides this, the concerned XEN's have been directed strictly to make the water supply through tankers on daily basis where there is acute shortage of drinking water," said the Mayor.
The Mayor extended gratitude to LG Manoj Sinha for considering the long pending demands of daily wage earners including casual labourers in all government departments as well as in municipalities and local bodies by increasing their wages from Rs 225/ to Rs 300/- per day w.e.f 1st of April 2022.
