New Delhi, May 18: On Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced that India is aiming to roll out 6G telecom network that will provide ultra-high-speed internet connectivity by the end of the decade. He added, “Connectivity, will decide the progress of the country in the 21st century and so modern-day infrastructure needs to be rolled out.”
Noting, India is preparing to launch 5G, the PM said, the upcoming 5G technology will add $450 billion to the Indian economy. According to him, it is not just about increasing internet speed but also the pace of development and creating jobs.
5G/ 6G technology- gear up for positive changes
In an announcement prime minister also talked about changes that 5G connectivity will bring. He said it will bring positive change in the governance of the country like the ease of doing business and living. It will boost the growth in health, agriculture, education, logistics, and infrastructure.
While speaking, PM Modi said, India has transparently moved to 4G and now moving to 5G. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has played a major role in this smooth transition. Criticising the Congress-led UPA government, PM Modi said, the 2G era was a symbol of policy paralysis and corruption. Later he added that whenever the telecom industry faced a crisis our government responded and undertook reforms. “These efforts have created new trust. The result of this is that over one-and-a-half times more FDI in the telecom sector has come in the last 8 years compared to the amount that came into the country before 2014," PM Modi said.
While concluding, PM Modi said, India has become the biggest mobile manufacturing hub in the world. Our government has led India to have one of the cheapest data charges in the world.
