| Amarnath Yatra: Drone attacks, sticky bombs key concerns | | |

Srinagar, May 20: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar on Friday stressed on the need for adopting proactive and coordinated approach towards ensuring adequate arrangements for smooth and successful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra starting June.
He said this during a security review meeting in Anantnag when officers also discussed threat of drone attacks and sticky bombs.
Senior Superintendent of Police Anantnag presented a detailed presentation about the proposed security measures and arrangements to be put in place for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY), a police spokesman said.
“The presentation included various security aspects viz, proposed deployments, arrangements for camp security, use of modern/technical gadgets, road opening parties, general security scenario in the respective areas, preparation for disaster management, cut off timings etc. Besides, different types of threats especially drone attacks, sticky bombs to Yatra convoy and security forces and appropriate security responses were discussed in detail,” the spokesman said.
Addressing the participants, the IGP Kashmir stressed on the need for adopting proactive and coordinated approach towards ensuring adequate arrangements for smooth and successful conduct of SANJY.
The officers were directed to ensure better coordination and synergy among different security agencies working on ground and prepare the exhaustive security plan and arrangements as per the ground situation and requirement in their respective areas for peaceful yatra.
IGP Kashmir emphasised upon the officers to make adequate use of modern security gadgets and technology including CCTVs, drones and also pay special attention towards generating specific intelligence and conduct anti-terrorist operations especially on the Yatra routes "so as to enhance the security surveillance grid and thwart evil designs of anti-national elements". |
