The bid was foiled this morning in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara, by Army's 3/9 GR unit. “At about 9 am, a group of heavily armed terrorists attempted to infiltrate in Tangdhar sector and subsequently were challenged by the alert troops deployed on LoC. Police said another militant got injured during the encounter and a search is on to trace him. “The other terrorist is believed to have got injured and escaped from the spot. However search is going on to trace him,” it added. Police said the ID-card recovered from the slain militant identified him as Mohammad Nazeer resident of Athmuqam area of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Police said a huge cache of narcotic substances and arms/ammunition was recovered from his possession. “The recoveries included 10 packets of Heroin, two AK rifles, two AK magazines, two pistols and four magazines have been recovered from his possession,” the statement said.
