Srinagar, May 29: A gun battle erupted between the militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday evening, officials said.
They said the gun battle erupted at Gundipora area of Pulwama during a cordon and search operation in the area, following an input about the presence of militants.
"As the joint team of forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight," a security official said.
Police said the joint forces were on the job.
"On the specific input of #KulgamPolice, #encounter has started at #Gundipora area of #Pulwama. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," a Jammu and Kashmir Police tweet said. |
