Jammu & Kashmir Ex-Services League holds AGM

Jammu, May 29: Annual General Meting was held in the League Head Office. Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, the present president of the League handed over the baton to Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Sharma, JAK Li by introducing him to the members of the house who all were happy that he had made his services available for the welfare of the Ex-Servicemen as President of the League. The President and the Sr. Vice President Air Cmde Kamal Singh introduced him to the house. Gen Sharma, the new President thanked the members of the League for giving him this honour and the opportunity to serve them and he assured them that he will leave no stone unturned and go wherever he is required to go for the acceptance of the issues of Ex-Servicemen, fight for the land for the Sainik HSG Colonies, reservations, annuities, revival of the Sainik Vanaspati and all the points raised and discussed today.
In view of the Covid pandemic for almost 2 years in which many lives have been lost, Gen Jamwal told them that League has lost many good officers and men working for the welfare of the League like Lt Col Kulwant Singh who got over 15 Crores of rupees to more than 500 ESM and their Veer Naries during the last 15 years. The house remembered him with gratitude and paid homage to them and all those who had left us.
The President informed them that he is grateful to the Prime Minister, Sh Narendra Modi who handled Covid so well that it finally escaped the terrible consequences of such a devastating pandemic. The President congratulated them for holding elections in-spite of the problems created by Covid and hoped that they will render services to the Ex-Servicemen. The president asked the District Presidents and the delegates to enrol the new Ex-Servicemen. He also asked them to become members of J And K Ex-Servicemen Patrika which has lot of information for them, for their families and for their children regarding future opportunities, health and particularly about their pensions and medical problems and how to handle the social media.
The President was happy to note that some very useful and important points have been put up like Medicine shortages, up gradation of ECHS, providing medical cover in certain remote areas, canteen problems particularly in Reasi where there is a need of mobile canteens. The President assured them to take it up with the Army Commanders of Northern & Western Command and also with 16 and 9 Corps Commanders and hoped that their problems will be resolved.
