| NSS GGM Science College organizes awareness on World Day against child labour | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 12: NSS GGM Science College organized an online awareness campaign under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan with the theme "Universal Social Protection to End Child Labour". Every year, June 12 is marked as the World Day Against Child Labour. It calls for investments into social safety nets and programs to protect children from being forced into child labour. The day aims to spread the awareness about the illegal practice of child labour that still prevails. NSS volunteers made posters; the purpose being to bring attention to the problem of child labour and to find ways to eradicate it or fight against it. Government has enacted the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016 which came into force w.e.f. 1.9. 2016. The Amendment Act completely prohibits the employment of children below 14 years. |
