Srinagar, June 12: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said on Sunday that ninety-nine militants have been killed by the security forces so far during this year. With the killing of three militants at Drabgam in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district during an overnight operation, a total of 99 militants have been killed in different encounters this year so far, IGP Kumar said while speaking to media persons in Srinagar. He said the security forces are achieving tremendous success in eliminating militants in clean sweep operations without any collateral damage to the forces. Kumar said that the anti-militancy operations will continue with full intensity. Regarding the Pulwama operation, he said that three militants were killed during the gun battle. He said it was a clean operation and no damage was caused to the security forces. One among these militants identified as Junaid Sheergojri was involved in the killing of policeman Reyaz Ahmad on April 13, 2020. The two others are also suspected to be involved in the targeted attacks carried out in the central Kashmir’s Budgam district against the non local labourers, he added. “It was a clean-up operation during which the security forces managed to kill three militants using their professional skills”, the IGP said. |
