J&K eagerly awaits yatris
6/12/2022 10:55:14 PM
The government is making hectic preparations for the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra scheduled to commence at the end of this month. Many additional arrangements have been made for the pilgrims so that they don’t face any difficulty during the yatra.
To ensure that no unauthorized person joins the pilgrims, special RIFD bands have been designed to identify the registered pilgrims.
Similarly pony wallas and other people associated with yatra will be provided RIFD bands to ensure that no chances are taken with the security of the pilgrims.
The RIFD tagging of vehicles will be done at Lakhanpur while individual tagging will be done at Jammu.
In case of heavy rush or stoppage of Yatra due to any reason more than 32 lodgement centres having capacity of 15 thousand people have been set up.
Nearly 20 to 22 langar facilities including 12 at Bhagwati Nagar and other at different locations of Jammu district have been put in place.
Similarly, Kathua has 31 lodgement centres having capacity of more than thousand people, Samba has 22 lodgement centres with 8000 people capacity, Udhampur has 36 lodgement centres with 9000 persons capacity and Ramban has 13 lodgement centres having capacity of 8000 people for accommodation.
It’s after 2-years that Amarnath Yatra is being held. It had remained suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. In 2019 the pilgrimage was cut short due to the abrogation of Article 370.
This year’s yatra is expected to be a bumper event as the government expects nearly five lakh pilgrims to arrive to pay the obeisance. Arrival of pilgrims from different parts of the country increases the economic activity in both Jammu and Kashmir regions.
However, the terrorists sponsored by Pakistan are making every possible attempt to disrupt the annual pilgrimage.
The recent target killings of the members of the minority community were an attempt to terrify the minorities, but the security forces have thwarted the designs of the ultras by carrying out specific operations against them. After the target killings many ultras have been killed in encounters with the security forces.
Enough precautions are being taken to ensure that the 45-day Amarnath Yatra passes off peacefully and the security agencies are on toes. With just a few days left for the pilgrimage to commence the pilgrimage routes and the base camps of yatris are being secured. Preparations are in the final phase with Jammu and Kashmir waiting for yatris eagerly to arrive.
