JAMMU, July 18: The Supreme Court collegiums led by Chief Justice N V Ramana has cleared the name of senior most Sessions Judge of J&K Rajesh Sekri from Judicial Officer quota for elevation as judges to J&K High Court. As per the precedence, the Supreme Court Collegium will take decision on the recommendation of the J&K High Court Collegium and then forward the names to the Union Ministry of Law and Justice for clearance. Later, the list will be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office for final approval of the Union Government and thereafter to the President of India for issuance of the warrant of appointment. The J&K High Court has sanctioned strength of 17 Judges including 13 permanent judges and four additional judges. However, at present there are 11 judges including Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal. The other Judges of the High Court are Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Justice Tashi Rabstan, Justice Sanjeev Kumar Shukla, Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul, Justice Sanjay Dhar and Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, Justice Rahul Bharti and Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi. Born in Jammu, Rajesh Sekri did his Matriculation from S D Sabha High Secondary School and completed graduation from Government Gandhi Memorial Science College and L.L.B from Faculty of Law, University of Jammu in 1989. He passed KCS (Judicial) and joined as Munsiff in 1995. He was promoted as Sub-Judge, in 1998 and as District and Sessions Judge in 2008 and got selection Grade in 2014 w.e.f June 2013 and was placed in Super Time scale in 2017. Sekri served as as CJM, Rajouri and Kargil and as District Judge, as Special Judge TADA/POTA Court Srinagar, Additional District Judge Anantnag, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, Principle District Judge, Reasi, Ramban and Baramulla. He also served as Special Judge Anti-corruption CBI cases, Jammu and presently posted as Judicial Member, J&K Special Tribunal, Jammu. |
