Jammu, July 18: An Army officer among two soldiers was killed in an accidental blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu-based Defence Spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said that on Sunday night, an accidental grenade blast occurred, when the Indian Army troops were performing their duties along the LoC in Mendhar sector of Poonch. He said that the several soldiers were injured in the incident and they were immediately evacuated by helicopter to Command Hospital Udhampur. During the treatment, Captain Anand and Naib Sub Bhagwan Singh succumbed to their injuries. Capt Anand belongs to Champa Nagar, District Bhagalpur, Bihar and Naib Sub Bhagwan Singh belongs to Village- Pokhar Bhitta, District Ambedkar Nagar, UP. "The GOC White Knight Corps and all Ranks salute the bravehearts, for their supreme sacrifice in line of duty and the nation shall forever remain indebted to the bravehearts," he added. |
