JAMMU, July 18: Lauding the role of Rotarians in promoting goodwill, camaraderie and peace for harmonious growth of the society, Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today said the spirit of service above self holds key to making this world a better place to live in.
“This is actually the philosophy of the world’s ancient and the greatest civilization which believes in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning the world is a family”, Mr Rana said at the Installation Ceremony of Rtn Madhu Goel, President Rotary Club Jammu Aastha and team and Rtn Ritika Mahajan, President Rotary Club Jammu Stars and team here this evening.
He expressed happiness over the people in large numbers joining the cause of serving humanity and volunteering themselves to help others to overcome their problems. In this context, he pointed to the four-way test banner displayed at the ceremony, saying this is inspiring as the answer revolves around serving the fellow beings, irrespective of caste, creed, colour and religion. The ultimate objective remains to encourage better understanding for building goodwill between the people for earning trust so that the result is mutually beneficial for all, he said, adding that something done from a position of compassion with the hope that every action in good faith will yield dividends.
Deveder Rana exhorted the participants to work towards fostering the bonds of camaraderie amongst the fellow beings and engage themselves in providing community services in the fields of health, education and social services. This has been the motto of the Rotarians to serve humanity in whatever way one can.
Prominent among others who were present were Randhir S Goel, Charter President Rotary Club Jammu Aastha, Rtn. Madhu Goel, President Rotary Club Jammu Aastha, Rtn Ritika Mahajan, President Rotary Club Jammu Stars, Rtn RK Chouhan, Rtn Chander Goel, Rtn ,Vishal Gujral, Rtn , Rtn Monia Kapoor besides Ramesh Kapoor, SK Sharma, PD Seth, Vaishali Goel, Rajinder Kapoor, Dev Choudhary, HS Dua and others.
Corporators, Ashok Singh Manhas and S. Sucha Singh were also present.
The other speakers dwelt upon the mission of the Rotary movement which envisages providing service to others, promoting integrity and advancing world understanding, goodwill and peace through fellowship of business, professional and the community leaders. They elaborately dwelt upon the pillars of the mission, underlying in the four-way test—it is the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendship? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
