GCPF accuses admin of bringing miseries to people | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 18: General Category People's Front, Jammu Kashmir (GCPF-JK) held its meeting today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, the chairman of the Front. Addressing the meeting, Prof. Yash Paul Sanson, President alleged that LG administration had brought miseries to the people on all fronts and they wanted to get rid of anti-people administration which had imposed heavy taxes, fees, fines tolls and services charges, including water and electricity bills. The Front expressed severe resentment against LG administration for its harsh anti-people decisions alienating general masses from administration and that will be harmful for BJP in elections. It demanded provision for 300 units of free electricity to every household in J&K like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, exempt pensioners from Income Tax as pension is not an income for any services or work. It is a deferred wage to pensioners; and enhancement of medical allowance of employees and pensioners for Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,000 per month. The GCPF flayed the union government for its anti poor decisions to impose GST on food grains/essential commodities used regularly by the common people. The government has snatched fundamental rights; livelihood of people; exploited them on the name of religion; caste; class and nationalism. The Front demanded withdrawal of GST on food grains. Som Nath Sharma, General Secretary, appealed to the Government of India to take initiative steps to end casteism and promote the principles of equality, justice liberty and dignity to all citizens ending all the restrictions imposed on the application of basic fundamental constitutional and democratic rights. |
