HCBA holds protest in support of demands

JAMMU, July 18: The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu under the leadership of its President M K Bhardwaj, senior advocate held a strong protest in the District Court Complex, Janipur, in support of their long pending demands. The Bar members abstained from work in all the Courts including High Court, District Courts, Tribunals & Commissions on account of the protest.
All the office bearers Mohinder Pal Singh Pali, Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra, General Secretary, Aditya Sharma, Joint Secretary, Amandeep Singh, Treasurer, Rohit Sharma (YLA President), Gagandeep Singh Lucky (YLA Vice President), Yaseer Farooq Khan (YLA General Secretary), Karanjeet Singh Johal (YLA Joint Secretary), Naresh Kumar (YLA Treasurer), besides many senior & young lawyers participated in the protest in support of their long pending demands.
The demands include construction of multi storey building for housing all the judicial work like registration work, CAT, DRT, AFT and other tribunals within the court premises. Bhardwaj, while addressing the protest, urged upon the government to immediately resolve all the demands/issues of the legal fraternity of J&K, so as to give relief to the legal fraternity as well as civil society.
In the event of failure to do the needful, the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, shall have no other option except to launch an agitation in support of their demands. It is pertinent to mention here that the JKHCBA had been continuously agitating their grievances before various officials of UT administration but till date not even a single demand has been redressed. Besides this, even other issues which are concerned with the legal fraternity are required to be dealt with at the earliest.
Many senior and young members of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu also spoke during the protest. They in one voice urged upon the UT administration to immediately resolve all the demands of the legal fraternity. Bhardwaj urged upon the UT administration to immediately resolve all the long pending demands/issues of lawyers fraternity, failing which the Bar Association shall take all necessary steps required in this behalf to ensure that the demand of the lawyers fraternity which is in larger public interest is met.
