Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 9: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) President Kundan Kashmiri has urged the central government to allow the students of displaced Kashmiri Pandit families residing outside J&K to avail the benefits of PM scholarship scheme at par with other students of Jammu and Kashmir.
The KPC has expressed its dismay for restricting the students of displaced KP community residing outside Jammu and Kashmir to avail the benefits of PM scholarship scheme ,when all the students J&K after passing their 12th class examinations going for higher education, are entitled and availing the same.
Kashmiri stated that it is most unfortunate that victim displaced KP students who are basically resident of Jammu & Kashmir presently residing outside due to displacement as displaced people, landless, homeless and resource-less, are not getting the same facility despite of deserving the same and the reasons for the same known to the government in helm in affairs in particular HRD ministry of Government of India.
Kashmiri said in the recent past the central government has awarded over 3,500 scholarships worth a total of Rs 75 crore under a special scheme for students from Jammu and Kashmir to enable them pursue higher education outside the state. Out of 3,500 scholarships, 1329 were from Kashmir valley youths who were also provided these special scholarships ,perhaps for throwing stones on Army and security forces and creating un-rest in the valley by them or their parents and relatives and displaced KP students of being victim of such incidents have been forced to leave the valley are deprived of this PM scholarship scheme.
