Early Times Report

KISHTWAR, Aug 9: Taking strong note of derogatory remarks made against senior Congress leader Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, ex R&B minister during party meeting at Kishtwar on Saturday, Congress party has threatened to withdraw the support from Kishtwar District Development Council headed by Pooja Thakur of National Conference.
The party has given three days ultimatum to NC leadership to either tender apology or expel the party leader who made derogatory remarks against senior party leader targeting him & his personal faith. Among 14 DDC constituencies in Kishtwar District, NC has 6 members, Congress has 2, BJP 3, one Independent, now in Aam Admi Party while one each from NC and Congress shift their loyalty towards BJP and Apni Party.
As per the details available with Early Times, 28 year old Mohammad Aslam who un-successfully contested Panchayat elections on NC ticket from Inderwal C during party (NC) meeting held at residence of Ex MoS Home J&K Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo made derogatory remarks against Saroori and launched personal attack on Congress leader that too in presence of senior party leaders including NC party district President Kishtwar Tanveer Ahmed Kichloo & ex MLA Inderwal Qazi Jalal Ud Din which didn’t go down well with the Congress leadership of Kishtwar that went berserk against NC leadership for allowing its party worker with “foot in mouth disease” to unleash personality attack on Congress party leadership without considering that they share the power in Kishtwar District Development Council.
Speaking to Early Times, BDC Chairman Drabshallla Suraj Parihar, DDC Bhunzwah Amina Begum & Sarpanch Shabir Lone whose wife holds the post of Vice President in Kishtwar DDC informed that Congress party had unanimously resolved to withdraw the support from DDC Chairperson adding that they have decided to give three days time to NC leadership to either tender an apology or expel the said party leader from the party who had made personal attack on Saroori.
Bhandari said that it is unbecoming of senior party leaders of National Conference that such remarks were made against three times MLA and a former minister added that surprisingly senior NC leaders could be seen clapping hands & laughing while such remarks were made against our senior leaders.
Saroori had earlier announced during party function that he had chosen to contest the election from Inderwal Constituency of Kishtwar District and challenged his opponents including NC -the seat which is considered as safe seat since it caters more than 80 percent Muslim votes.
