Azad’s son takes charge to defend his father’s outburst against Cong | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 5: As the veteran politician Ghulam Nabi Azad has maintained a silence over the counter-attack by his former party colleagues his son Saddam Nabi Azad came forward to defend his father’s outburst against Congress. “Congress leaders should not take it otherwise. My father is constructively criticizing Congress and party (Congress) leaders should take Ghulam Nabi Azad’s advice very seriously to save the party from further destruction”, Saddam told a news agency after releasing of book of his father. Taunting Congress for not taking Azad’s criticism in a positive sense, Saddam said, “We are sympathetic to the plight of Congress currently. My father is not criticizing Congress for the sake of fun” Lambasting Congress leaders who charged Azad with betraying the party after getting all benefits from the party, Saddam said, “Whatever position my father got in Congress is because of his work and abilities and not because of charity or sycophancy”. “Presently there are many leaders who managed to get important positions in the Congress due to charity but I don’t want to disclose their names”, he said and asserted that from a block-level worker to the national general secretary, Azad served the party for 50 long years with dedication and commitment. Saddam further said that all Congress leaders are aware of the services Ghulam Nabi Azad has rendered to the party for 50 years. “You can talk to any Congress leader off-camera you will get the feedback about the services of Azad toward the party”, he said. Without naming Rahul Gandhi, Saddam said that some Congress leaders were not ready to listen to the suggestions of Ghulam Nabi Azad. On Tuesday, Azad criticized Congress leaders who levelled allegations on him when Prime Minister Narendra Modi praise him in the Rajya Sabha. “They have a polluted mind and need to go back to “kindergarten to learn ABC of politics”, Azad said. The former Congress veteran went further to suggest that such individuals should consider revisiting their basic understanding of politics, even suggesting a return to kindergarten to learn the rudimentary ABCs of political discourse. |
