Early Times Report JAMMU, May 22: Criticizing the BJP for its anti-farmer policies, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, former minister and senior National Conference leader, highlighted the distress prevailing in the agriculture sector due to the government's callous approach over the past nine years. During his address to farmers in Sarora, Marh, Sadhotra emphasized the challenges faced by farmers, such as dwindling irrigation facilities, sub-standard seeds, and fertilizer shortages. These issues have intensified the hardships faced by farmers, leaving them feeling betrayed by the government. Sadhotra pointed out that inadequate irrigation remains a significant obstacle, with insufficient water flow in canals due to token desilting. This hampers farmers' ability to achieve optimal yields despite their hard work. Power cuts and disconnection of supplies to irrigation pumps have further exacerbated their problems, with no one showing a willingness to address these issues. Erratic farm inputs have also contributed to poor crop quality. The farming community is currently experiencing frustration and discouragement, leading to a demotivation among the younger generation to pursue farming as a livelihood. Farming is no longer seen as profitable due to the government's flawed policies over the years. Sadhotra attributed the BJP's failure to fulfill its promises to farmers, particularly regarding doubling crop income, as a major setback. Instead of witnessing income growth, farmers have experienced a doubling of inflation under the BJP, significantly impacting the farming community, which constitutes a majority of the population. The former minister warned that the government's insensitivity towards farmers will have disastrous consequences, as agricultural production suffers and peasants lose motivation to continue farming. The National Conference will continue to advocate for the plight of the people, especially farmers, who bear the brunt of the government's lackadaisical attitude. Sadhotra emphasized the need to prioritize addressing farmers' issues, including ensuring adequate irrigation facilities, providing quality inputs like seeds and fertilizers, and ensuring uninterrupted power supply for irrigation pumps during the cropping season. The public meeting was organized by Sodagar Saini Ex-Sarpanch, Charanjeet Singh (Block President), and Randhir Singh (Sr. Vice President of the Block). Other speakers at the event included Ghar Singh Chib (Corporator), Capt Joginder Lal, Prem Saini, Bishan Das, Bua Ditta, Ashok Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Darshna Devi, Arti Devi, Raj Kumari, Rattan Lal, Anil Singh Chib, Aman Singh Manhas, Romeshwar Sharma, Ch.
