Even 2 weeks after Deepu’s killing; Babus, politicians have no time to visit his family | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 11: Senior politicians and top bureaucrats of Jammu and Kashmir have no time to visit the residence of poor Deepak Kumar alias Deepu who was killed by terrorists on May 29 in the Anantnag district of Kashmir Valley. Although hard-hitting and heavily worded press notes have been issued by senior politicians, they could not spare time to visit the residence of the poor terror victim to express their condolence. Reports said that various promises have been made on the papers and verbal instructions have been issued to minimize the miseries of the poor family but neither top bureaucrats nor senior political muster the guts to personally visit the ill-fated family that lost the lone breadwinner. The national as well as regional parties have deputed their second-rung leaders but top brass has yet to visit the family which is still living in abject poverty. As reported earlier by the Early Times expect issuing statements and tweeting from Twitter handles Jammu-based politicians also skipped the cremation of Deepak Kumar alias Deepu. Deepu, a resident of Thial village of the Majalta tehsil in the Udhampur district, killed by terrorists in Anantnag district on Monday evening, was the lone bread earner for a seven-member family. His elder brother Raju lost both of his eyes and his father is bedridden for the last couple of years. Deepu was looking after a four-member family of his elder brother along with his wife and ailing father. Deepu , who worked at a circus in the Janglat Mandi area of Anantnag, was gunned down by terrorists in the latest incident of targeted killing when he had gone to the market to buy milk around 8.30 pm on May 29. |
