Apni Party heaves sigh of relief after Delhi meeting | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 29: Even as former minister and Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari recently called Union Home Minister, Amit Shah in New Delhi, the development has “brought a sigh of relief for the party leadership boosting morale of Bukhari’s cadres.” While the party had been apprehending that some of its leaders could part ways in the coming times, sources said, “such apprehensions have changed after the meeting”. Sources said there were apprehensions that the party had been “weak for the last many months” as some of its leaders were resorting to “indiscipline and could leave for greener pastures.” In the last few months while infighting in the Apni Party was quite visible as the party leaders would confront each other in public domain, even Altaf Bukhari was not immune to criticism from his party cadres. Around three months ago, one of his youth faces had resigned from a key post whereas another leader had locked horns with the “annoyed one.” Subsequently, Bukhari was being bitterly questioned by his “old aides.” In one of the instances, a close aide of his party leader had challenged Bukhari. The sources said in one more case, one of the senior leaders of the Apni Party had opened a party office in Srinagar in Dal area but had not put any banner of the party he belonged to. Recently reports had suggested that some of the leaders of the party were planning to join a new venture. “The larger gossip was that he (Bukhari )is not in the good books of BJP any further but now the narrative seems to have changed overnight after the meeting in the national capital,” said a political observer. It was reliably learnt that the meeting has brought “a new level of confidence among the party cadres and that they have reposed a new faith in the party leadership.” Despite repeated attempts Bukhari couldn’t be contacted for comments. |
