Statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar unveiled at IGNOU New Delhi

NEW DELHI, July 15: Today, the statue of the eminent leader Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was unveiled at the IGNOU New Delhi headquarters by the esteemed Speaker of Lok Sabha, Om Birla. The unveiling ceremony was broadcast live on various media and social media platforms, attracting a wide audience from across the country. Despite it being a university holiday, all regional centers remained open and operational, showing their respect for the occasion.
The event took place at the Convention Centre of IGNOU in Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, and was graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Pro-Vice Chancellors Dr. Kiran Hazarika and Prof. Uma Kanjilal, along with other dignitaries. Dr. Sandeep Gupta, the Regional Director, Dr. Asha Upadhyay, the Assistant Regional Director, Dara Singh, the Section Officer, and other staff members from the Regional Centre virtually participated in the event. Students from the Regional Centre in Jammu were also present and had the opportunity to interact during the unveiling ceremony.
Dr. Sandeep Gupta, the Regional Director, delivered a speech highlighting the remarkable life and enduring legacy of Dr. Ambedkar. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from the remarkable achievements and contributions of Baba Saheb, who overcame numerous hardships and poverty to become one of the founding pillars of the Republic of India.
The Regional Centre in Jammu was privileged to be among the select few regional centers chosen to engage in an interactive session with the Honorable Speaker, Shri Om Birla, during the unveiling ceremony of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar's statue. The students from the Regional Centre in Jammu shared their experiences and perspectives on their educational journey at the center during the session with the esteemed Speaker.
