Early Times Report
SHOPIAN, Nov 27: Following the directions of District Magistrate, Fazlul Haseeb, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Shopian Shakil Bhat on Monday launched a crackdown on traffic violators and implemented a vehicle blacklisting initiative to curb repeated offenses.
To curb the menace of overloading and wrong parking, a checking drive was today carried out by Motor Vehicle Department Shopain. The team headed by Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Shakil Bhat Challaned 20 vehicles for Traffic violations under Motor Vehicle Act besides 02 vehicles were blacklisted.
MVD Shopain launched a drive in various public places including hospital road in order to free the roads from wrongly parked vehicles. Several vehicles were challaned and fine was imposed on the spot.
ARTO Shopian said they conducted a series of operations and checkpoints on Mughal Road road and Hospital Road. He said the aim was to identify and penalize individuals violating traffic rules, thereby creating awareness and promoting responsible driving habits.
In addition to the penalties imposed on the violators, the ARTO Shopian has implemented a vehicle blacklisting system to deter repeat offenses. Under this initiative, vehicles involved in severe traffic violations or multiple offenses will be blacklisted, leading to restrictions on their use on public roads.
The ARTO Shopian has warned the vehicle operators to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Act failing which they shall be booked under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
