Omar out to undermine opposition parties | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 27: For the last couple of weeks, former chief minister and vice-president of the National Conference Omar Abdullah has availed all opportunities to undermine other opposition parties to dominate the political scenario in J&K before Lok Sabha elections. During the last couple of weeks, veteran politician and president of the National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah is not in action so Omar Abdullah appeared to be using this opportunity to sideline opposition parties. Not only Omar Abdullah has blamed the Peoples Democratic Party for the abrogation of Article 370 he also criticized Congress on the issue of the Hijab in party party-ruled Karnatka state. Omar Abdullah flayed Congress for banning the Hijab in Karnataka and termed this action against individual freedom. “Earlier it was the BJP government in Karnataka now the Congress regime in the same state has imposed a ban on Hijab”, Omar said. “When all this used to happen in Karnataka earlier, it would not surprise us because there was the BJP Government at that time”, he said, adding, “But it is sad that during Congress’ tenure, such decisions are taken. It is very unfortunate”. While as Dr. Farooq Abdullah is trying to unite all opposition parties of Jammu and Kashmir against the ruling BJP, Omar Abdullah appears to be not ready to accommodate other opposition parties. Earlier former minister and two-time Lok Sabha member Choudhary Lal Singh in January this year had accused National Conference leader Omar Abdullah of sabotaging Rahul Gandhi’s march in Jammu and Kashmir by raking up controversial issues. “It appears that Omar Abdullah is working at the behest of the government to sabotage Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K to please his political masters”, Choudhary Lal Singh had stated when Omar Abdullah opposed Singh’s joining the Bharat Jodo Yatra in January this year. Omar Abdullah had opposed the decision of the Congress to allow Choudhary Lal Singh to join the Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K. He alleged that Lal Singh had supported the accused of the infamous Rasana rape and murder case. |
