Jammu, Jan 22: Terrorists and their supporters involved in executing the gruesome Dhangri attack are likely to be identified after the arrest of a juvenile by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday. Although investigating agencies are tightlipped over the questioning of the arrested juvenile, sources said that the arrested person was the main link between terrorists and their supporters active in the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. Sources said that before executing two back-to-back terror attacks in the Dhangri village of Rajouri on January 1 and January 2, terrorists spent as many as two months in the area to repeatedly conduct recce of the village. Sources said that it was all due support of locals that terrorists managed to spend two months in the area and later they managed to give a slip to the security forces after executing the Dhangri terror attack. As per reports, the NIA has made a significant breakthrough in the Dhangri terror attack case with the arrest of a juvenile. The young individual is accused of harbouring the terrorists responsible for the brutal assault that took place on January 1, 2023. Seven civilians including two minors were killed in twin terror attacks Seven people including two minor children were killed and 14 injured as terrorists attacked Dhangri on January 1 and January 2, 2023. While five people, including two brothers, were killed in the firing by terrorists, two children died when an improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by the attackers went off the next day. Big security lapses were exposed when terrorists managed The arrested juvenile is the main link between terrorists and their supporters. Thejuvenile was already lodged at the Observation Home in R S Pura in connection with another case. Before executing terror attacks last year terrorists spent 2 months in the area. 7 civilians including 2 minors were killed in twin terror attacks to trigger blasts through IEDs in the same house the next morning where they killed two persons on the previous evening. While four people were gunned down on January 1 evening, two children were killed and several others injured after a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast occurred in the same vicinity in Rajouri's Dangri village on January 2 morning. One injured later succumbed to his injuries in GMC Jammu. The juvenile was already lodged at the Observation Home in R.S.Pura, Jammu, in connection with another case when he was taken into custody by the NIA. Following his arrest, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Rajouri for remand. The case, initially registered under various sections of the IPC, UA (P) Act 1967, and Arms Act, was taken over by the NIA and re-registered on January 13, 2023. The NIA's investigation revealed that the juvenile, along with two other individuals, Nisar Ahmed, and Mushtaq Hussain, had provided shelter to the terrorists who executed the attack. Ahmed and Hussain, arrested by the NIA on August 31, 2023, are currently lodged at Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. The duo had reportedly provided logistical support to the terrorists for over two months, following instructions from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) handlers. The NIA's relentless pursuit of the perpetrators led them to the hilly terrains of Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The team examined numerous suspicious entities before zeroing in on the accused individuals who had provided logistical support to the terrorists. The investigation into the case is still ongoing. |
