GDC Darhal, other colleges hosts awareness programme

JAMMU, Mar 6: In a collaborative effort, Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal, along with GHSS Darhal Boys and GHSS Darhal Girls, organized a special awareness program titled "Chunav ka Parv: Desh ka Garv" on March 6th, 2024. Jointly coordinated by the NSS wing and IQAC of the college, the event aimed to promote awareness about the significance of voting and encourage responsible participation in the democratic process, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. The initiative was carried out under the guidance and patronage of Principal Prof Zameer Ahmed Mirza. Dr. Mohd Akhlaq, the NSS coordinator, led a dedicated team of NSS volunteers in ensuring the success of the program. A highlight of the event was a session conducted by Dr. Mohd Saleem Wani, the Coordinator of IQAC, who emphasized the importance of active participation in elections for the progress and development of the nation. Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof Zamir Ahmed Mirza expressed his delight at the enthusiastic participation of the students, emphasizing the power they hold in shaping the nation's future through their votes. He commended the organizing committee for their efforts in making the program a success. Dr. Ghulam Abbas, HoD Persian, emphasized breaking down language barriers to ensure everyone can exercise their right to vote. Dr. Tahseen Ahmed, HoD Geography, highlighted the global impact of voting decisions on issues such as climate change and economic development. Dr. Anzar Ahmed, HoD Arabic, expressed pride in the youth's engagement in activities fostering responsibility towards the nation. The program featured various engaging activities including poster and slogan writing competitions, as well as a street play themed "Vote for Sure: Mera Pehla Vote." The active participation of students and staff members made the event a resounding success, with notable contributions from Dr. Ghulam Abas, Dr. Taseem Ahmed, Dr. Mohd Akhlaq, Dr. Mohd Riaz, and Dr. Mehwish Bukhari among others.
