RAJOURI, Mar 6: Government PG College Rajouri buzzed with intellectual fervor as it recently played host to an enthralling Intra-College Quiz competition, delving deep into the annals of India's struggle for freedom and its enduring legacy. Under the discerning leadership of Dr. (Prof.) Shamim Ahmed Azad, the esteemed Principal of the College, the event was jointly organized by the Department of Political Science, the Department of Economics, and the NSS Unit of the College.
Four spirited groups, each named after iconic freedom fighters-Bhagat Singh, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Rani Laxmibhai, and M.K. Gandhi-participated in this intellectually stimulating contest. A total of 12 students showcased their knowledge and passion, navigating through seven rounds meticulously crafted to shed light on the unsung heroes and pivotal moments of India's struggle for independence and nation-building.
In a display of remarkable prowess, the M.K. Gandhi group, comprising Miss Shareen Anjum, Mr. Abrar Hussain, and Miss Neha Sharma, clinched the coveted first position, showcasing exceptional depth of understanding and quick thinking. The Rani Laxmibai group, represented by Ms. Samreena Manzoor, Ms. Serish Anjum, and Pragati Gupta, secured a commendable second position, highlighting impeccable teamwork and knowledge. Meanwhile, the Ashfaq Ullah Khan group, featuring Ms. Sabha Naz, Ms. Tahira Shameem, and Mr. Ibrar Ahmed, earned a well-deserved third position, marked by their dedication and nuanced grasp of historical intricacies.
The event kicked off with a warm Welcome Note by Dr. Israr Ahmed from the Department of Economics, followed by an insightful Keynote Address delivered by Prof. Khaleeq Ahmed, the Programme Officer of NSS. Prof. Murtaza Ahmed, Head of the Political Science Department and the Convener of the event, expertly steered the proceedings, while the esteemed jury members, including Dr. Zakir Hussain from the English Department and Prof. Altaf Hussain from the Department of Environmental Science, provided valuable insights and adjudication.
The competition not only celebrated India's rich history of struggle and sacrifice but also fostered a spirit of healthy competition and analytical thinking among the participants, reaffirming the college's commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals with a deep understanding of their nation's heritage and values.
