Death Anniversary of Rama Bai Ambedkar held | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 27: Death anniversary of Rama Bai Ambedkar was celebrated by Shelter Home (Home for urban homeless) at Boria Gorkh nagar Bahu fort Jammu alongwith inmates of Shelter Home. While speaking on this occasion Sham Lal basson former corporator said that Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar dedicated his book Thoughts on Pakistan to Rama Bai (Ramu).In the preface of book Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar said that it is the only Rama Bai Ambedkar who transformed Bhiva-Bhima to Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar. This is the great sacrification of Rama Bai Ambedkar who lost her four children at very tender age. She sacrificed her all comforts for the sake of downtrodden people. Rama Bai was born to Bhikhu Dhatre and Rukmani on 7th Feb 1898 in Maharashtra. She was married to Bhim Rao Ambedkar at Bycull market.She also lost her mother and father in her early childhood life. She faced many hardships and troubles but she never surrendered. Lokinder Singh Ravi ADG GSI, Madam Veena bakshi manager Rehan Basera Janak Raj Thapa Retd ADG also addressed the gathering and threw light on the life and mission of Mata Rama Bai Ambedkar. She stood like a rock along Baba Saheb Dr B R Ambedkar and faced many hardship and troubles during her life but she never became discouraged. She was married to Bhim Rao Ambedkar at the age of 9 years and Baba Saheb was 14years. Rama Bai encouraged Baba Saheb for higher studies and after receiving higher education Baba Saheb framed constitution of India and gave equal rights to women. Baba Saheb always fought for the rights of women and downtrodden people. Lokinder singh Ravi, Janak Raj Thapa and madam Veena Bakshi also addressed the gathering and expressed views regarding life and struggle of revered Mata Rama Bai Ambedkar. Those paid tributes included Rita devi Rekha Gupta, Ratan lal,Anita Gupta, Rajni Devi Aditya, Rajat kumar. |
