Jammu, May 27: Even as BJP made all efforts to transfer its one lakh hardcore voters to the Apni Party candidate Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, all eyes are on the Nowshera assembly segment which is a stronghold of the Saffron Party. If the BJP succeeded in ensuring the lead of Apni Party candidate Zafar Iqbal Manhas on this segment, it would be a big moral boost for the party cadre as well as the like-minded party. Highly placed sources said that in all the 18 assembly segments that fall under the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary constituency, Nowshera is the assembly constituency where the Apni Party is hoping to get a big lead due to the presence of the BJP in this region. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections when this segment was part of the Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat a total of 76909 votes were polled in the Nowshera assembly segment. Out of these votes, BJP candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma got 59413 votes against 14786 votes of Raman Bhalla. Almost similar was the position in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections when BJP candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma got 42877 votes whil If the BJP succeeds in ensuring the lead of Apni Party candidate Zafar Iqbal Manhas , it would be a big moral booster for the party cadre as well as the like-minded party. As reported earlier, the BJP has openly supported the Apni Party candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat. Party leaders worked overtime to transfer its hardcore voters to the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. In the year 2019 Lok Sabha elections BJP candidate Jugal Kishore got 1,34,653 votes from the five constituencies of Poonch and Rajouri. Five constituencies including Kalakote which is now part of the Jammu-Reasi Lok Sabha seat. In the 2019 Parliamentary elections, BJP got the lead from the Nowshera assembly segment with 59,413 votes. From the Darhal assembly segment BJP got 10360 votes, from the Rajouri segment BJP got 15,976 votes, and party candidate Jugal Kishore Sharma got 1914 votes from the Surankote assembly seat. From Mendhar assembly segment BJP got 3157 votes and the party candidate got 14,638 votes from the Poonch-Haveli segment. |
