Kishtwar, Oct 23: Under the guidance of the J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kishtwar held an awareness program to educate participants about gender-related issues and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The event took place at the District Court Complex and was inaugurated by Sh. Manjeet Singh Manhas, Chairman of the DLSA and Principal District & Sessions Judge. During the program, Sh. Manjeet Singh emphasized the importance of addressing sexual harassment in workplaces, describing it as a serious social injustice that affects both individual dignity and professional growth. He stressed the need for gender sensitization for both men and women to foster a safe working environment. Sh. Mahmud Anwar Al-Nasir, Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kishtwar, served as the resource person and provided insights into the provisions of the Sexual Harassment Act. He discussed various aspects of gender sensitization, including gender discrimination, stereotypes, and the importance of achieving gender equality. The program was attended by a diverse group of participants, including law enforcement officials, teachers, and members of the internal complaints committee at the District Court. Sh. Slahuddin Ahmed, Sub Judge and Secretary of DLSA Kishtwar, conducted the proceedings, highlighting the collaborative effort to create awareness and foster a respectful workplace culture in the region. |
