Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 23: Five days have passed after the constitution of a fact-finding committee to ascertain reasons for the party’s worst-ever defeat in the just concluded Assembly elections but no process has been initiated by the panel members till date.
Highly placed sources said that the party's high command is busy in Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections and the local leadership could not have the guts to take action against those who were responsible for the party’s debacle. “There is no need for constituting any fact-finding committee because everything is crystal clear. Some senior leaders who were adamant about contesting elections on particular seats were responsible for this debacle. Secondly, those senior leaders who supported these adamant leaders should be taken to task for giving priority to their petty personal financial interests at the cost of the party’s interests”, a young Congress leader told The Early Times.

muster the guts to take action against the real culprits. “It appears to be an eyewash exercise just to pacify workers who are annoyed over the actions of these senior leaders who shamelessly sacrificed the party’s interests just to ensure their safe seats”, the leader said, adding, “Neither those leaders succeeded in winning their seats not interests of the party were protected”.
Important to mention here that on October 18, the Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra, in consultation with AICC Leadership, has constituted a fact-finding high-powered committee to ascertain the reasons behind the defeat of the Party in the recent Assembly elections, in Jammu regions and to suggest measures for strengthening the party.
The Committee is expected to report within 30 days from today.
Senior party leader Ravinder Sharma has been appointed as Chairman of the Committee while Jehangir Mir, Naresh Gupta, Thakur Balwan Singh, Shah Mohammad Chowdhary, Ved Mahajan, and Dina Nath Baghat are the members of the panel.
