Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 15: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet before the Special NIA Court, Jammu, in the case related to the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were shot dead by terrorists.
The chargesheet follows the arrest of two local men accused of harbouring the terrorists who carried out the attack. The accused have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar, a resident of Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam.
As per the investigation, the duo has reportedly disclosed the identities of the three-armed terrorists involved and further claimed that the attackers were Pakistani nationals affiliated with the proscribed terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The NIA arrested the duo in the case under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and for offence under Section 239 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
The case has been registered as RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU, following the attack that took place on April 22, 2025, which triggered widespread outrage and condemnation.
In another development linked to the case, three terrorists — Suleman, Hamza Afghani (Afghan) and Zibran — were eliminated earlier this year in a joint operation by the Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Dachigam area under Operation Mahadev. Reportedly, their names have also been reflected in the chargesheet.
Court sources said that after filing of the chargesheet, the Special NIA Court has listed the matter for the next crucial stage, for arguments on charge/discharge on January 5,2026.
The NIA has stated that further investigation is continuing to establish the full conspiracy, terror linkages and support network behind the attack. (JNF)
