JAMMU, Dec 15: In a landslide victory that rewrote the electoral history of the prestigious Amar Singh Club, Vijay Saraf emerged triumphant by securing an overwhelming mandate in the managing committee elections. Polling an unprecedented 2,006 votes out of a total 2,657, Saraf led his team to a resounding win, reflecting strong support and confidence reposed in his leadership by the club members.
According to the details available with Early Times Vijay Saraf was elected as Secretary of the Amar Singh Club while 10 others were declared elected as Managing Committee members.
A total 2657 votes were polled. The election process was held under the supervision of `independent persons’.
Vijay Saraf polled highest number of 2006 votes and defeated his two opponents, Ajay Anand and Dr Vikram Handa, who bagged 1430 and 874 votes, respectively.
Prior to this term, Saraf has remained the secretary of the prestigious Amar Singh Club for terms.
Besides Saraf, seven members of his team: Manish Gupta, bagged 1357 votes, Manmohan Singh 1228, Nitika Bhandari 1350, Rajesh Langar 1667, Sahil Mahajan 1679, Tania Kukreja 1428 and Viraaj Malhotra secured 1161 votes to defeat their opponents.
The election for the 11- member committee was held on Sunday in the Club premises under the supervision of the vice president of the Club, Ramesh Kumar Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
The club members appreciated Kumar for conducting the elections smoothly and in a fair, transparent manner.
Pertinently, the Chief Minister is the president while Divisional Commissioner Jammu is the vice president of the Club as per its constitution. Five members will be nominated by the president to the Managing Committee.
