Early Times Report

Doda, Apr 29: In a firm and proactive step towards maintaining public order and curbing criminal activities, Doda Police has detained two habitual offenders under the stringent provisions of the Public Safety Act (PSA). This action reflects the unwavering commitment of District Police Doda to ensure a safe, secure, and crime-free environment for the public.
The first detenue, Mohd Rafiq S/o Mohd Sabir R/o Sekwan Beoli, Tehsil and District Doda,is a notorious criminal and has a consistent history of involvement in theft/snatching related offences. He has been repeatedly booked in multiple cases registered at Police Station Doda. The details of the cases are as follows:
- FIR No. 204/2022
- U/S 382/201 IPC
- FIR No. 38/2023 U/S 382 IPC
- FIR No. 10/2024 U/S 382 IPC
- FIR No. 158/2025
- U/S 308/351(2), 3/5 BNS
Despite previous legal action, the individual continued to engage in unlawful activities, posing a significant threat to public peace and safety.
The second detenue, Din Mohd S/o Munawer Wani R/o Dhar Dashnan, is also a known offender with involvement in multiple criminal cases, including:
- FIR No. 133/2025
- U/S 299 BNS
- FIR No. 50/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PC Act
Given their repeated involvement in criminal activities and the likelihood of their actions disturbing public order, dossiers were prepared against both individuals and submitted to the competent authority. Upon due consideration and careful examination, detention orders under the PSA were issued.
Accordingly, a police team of police station doda took both detenues into custody and lodged in District Jail Udhampur to prevent them from indulging in further activities prejudicial to the maintenance of public order.
Doda Police reiterate its steadfast commitment to uphold the rule of law and safeguard the lives and property of citizens. The police will continue to take strict and preventive action against habitual offenders and anti-social elements. The general public is urged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious or unlawful activities, thereby contributing towards maintaining peace and harmony in the district.
