PU community College celebrates Annual Sports Day

Jammu, Apr 29: The Department of Physical Education and Yoga of Pondicherry University Community College is a vibrant Department in the Puducherry State with several achievements at regional, national and international levels. The Pondicherry University Community College Annual Sports Day 2025–26 is organized by the Department of Physical Education & Yoga, Pondicherry University Community College at its premises with over 250 students receiving prizes.
The programme commenced with an invocation, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. R. Murugesan, Assistant Professor and Yoga Coordinator.
A detailed Sports day report of the Annual Sports Day was presented by Dr. S. Jagadeeswari, Assistant Professor, Head I/c and Sports Coordinator, showcasing the various events conducted and the enthusiastic participation of students across various Departments. The report also highlighted that the uniqueness of the event is that the students of Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports have organized all the matches and athletic competitions for the students of the other Departments functioning at the College. The Presidential Address was delivered by the Principal I/c, Prof. Lalitha Ramakrishnan, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and congratulated the students for their active participation and the leadership qualities of the BPES students. She emphasized the role of sports in holistic development and encouraged students to strive for excellence in all spheres.
The Chief Guest, Prof. P. Natrajan, Director I/c, Culture & Cultural Relations, Pondicherry University, graced the occasion and delivered an inspiring address. He emphasized the importance of balancing academics with sports and highlighted that participation in sports builds discipline, leadership qualities, and a strong character among students. He also encouraged students to actively engage in cultural and physical activities for overall personality development.
Dr. M. Krishna Moorthy, Finance Officer, Pondicherry University, attended the event as the Special Guest. In his address, he appreciated the efforts of the institution in organizing such events and stressed the significance of dedication, time management, and perseverance in achieving success both in academics and sports.
The highlight of the programme was the Prize Distribution Ceremony, where winners of various sports events were honored with medals, trophies and certificates. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and applause from the audience.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, participants, and organizers for making the event a grand success.
