Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday sent back the 15-year old teenage girl, who wanted to hoist tricolor on the occasion of the 70th Independence Day at historic clock tower in Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
Sources told Early Times Jahnvi Behl, 15, of Ludhiana along with a few male members arrived at Srinagar Airport this afternoon.
As soon as she disembarked from the aircraft the policemen told her that she cannot proceed towards Lal Chowk and she would have to return.
They said despite her repeated pleas policemen did not allow her to step outside the airport and ensured that she takes the next flight back to Ludhiana.
On the other hand reports said that miscreants hoisted Pakistan flags at different places across Kashmir and security forces had to face tough time while removing these flags hoisted on towers and trees.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "This is the height of lawlessness. Nationalist people are stopped from hoisting the national flag while the miscreants and separatists are openly indulging in anti-national activities and are hoisting Pakistan flags across Kashmir.
It seems Jammu and Kashmir is the only place in the world where nationalist forces get brickbats for expressing their love for motherland while no action is taken against the people who indulge in sedition and preach secession."
He said, "It has been more than 35-days since Kashmir has been shut and separatists are calling the shots. Every week they (separatists) issue new calendar calling for shutdowns and anti-India demonstrations. It's strange that government has failed to take any action against them despite they (separatists) taking entire Kashmir as hostage."
A Kashmir watcher said, "Government not taking any action against the separatists has emboldened them. Their henchmen and militants are openly threatening the people. They are compelling them to keep their shops shut, come out on streets and participate in anti-India demonstrations. If anyone opposes them he is beaten and mauled and labeled as traitor."
An official said, "The government should give a free hand to Police and other security agencies to deal with the situation. The people who are issuing these calendars and are staging chalo dramas should be put behind the bars and their activities need to be curtailed. It's strange despite everyone being aware about who is behind these incidents no action is being taken against the perpetrators. The indecisive approach of the people at the helm has led to the chaos and confusion, and it's one of the reasons about present Kashmir unrest getting pro-longed."
