Mr NC, forget roadmap, J&K is in India

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 14: It was expected that the Jammu-based NC leaders or mouthpieces of the defeated Abdulahs, would see reason, identify them with the Jammu sentiment and national sentiment and do not say anything that suit the Kashmiri theo-fascists, who have been working overtime to convert Valley into Syria, but, sadly, it has not happened. What has happened is just to the contrary. To prove their loyalty to their masters in Kashmir, who never ever considered J&K a part of India and always denounced the Indian Constitution to arouse anti-India feelings in Kashmir, they have spoken the language that irritates and infuriates the people of Jammu province. One of them has come out with a nasty suggestion that J&K has an external dimension and that New Delhi should prepare a roadmap for J&K.
"The Centre must appreciate internal and external dimensions of the issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir", provincial president on Sunday said while addressing party functionaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan in Jammu. He added that "patch-work, jingoism or rhetoric have potential of further vitiating the atmosphere that can make the region flashpoint for military conflict and eventual disaster".
"The situation, he said, calls for sagacious and cautious approach, lest the subcontinent will be consumed by military confrontation. Sooner the wisdom dawns upon the Centre to work out an acceptable political roadmap better it is for the larger interest of peace, progress and unity of the country as also this sensitive state, which is undergoing history's most traumatic phase under the anti-people PDP-BJP dispensation," he further said.
He further outraged the sensitivities of the people of Jammu and Ladakh when he claimed that Sheikh Abdullah all through his life practiced Jamhooriyat and Insaniyat. "The National Conference treats Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh as vital limbs of its body physique and if one part gets hurt, the pain is felt by the entire body with same intensity. This may perhaps not be understood by those making jugglery of words on Ïnsaanyat, Jamhooriyat and Kashmiriyat, which late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah believed all his life, nurtured and practiced, especially during most testing times of history," he said in this regard. He forgot that the rise of Sheikh Abdullah in Kashmir was, in fact, the rise of communalism, exclusivist politics and the rise of a situation that again restarted the process of migration from the Valley. He, in addition, committed a faux pas when he hailed Kashmiriyat. Kashmiri scholars hate and despise this term, saying it is being imposed on Kashmir to humiliate the Kashmiri Muslims.
The saddest part was that this greater supporter of the Abdullahs came out with this unwarranted statement on the eve of the 70thIndependence day of the country. It was not inadvertently that the Jammu-based NC leader chose this time; he chose the timing willfully and deliberately for reasons not difficult to fathom. Today is the Pakistan's independence day and Pakistan High Commissioner to Delhi Abdul Basit also raked up the Kashmir issue and talked of the external dimension of the so-called Kashmir issue.
