Quality, quantity being compromised on Kalakot-Siot road Premixing yet to complete, road turns into pits 8/15/2016 12:07:19 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 14: Within two months since premixing (repairing) works begun on Kalakot-Siot road pits anf ditches have appeared on the road. Premixing on purposed high-way road was finalized in District Development Board (Rajouri) meeting held on June 24, 2015. "Repairing works on 24 long Kalakot-Siot road begun in April, this year and yet to complete. Road at various places has turned into pits, as sub-standard material and prescribed quantity of material is being compromised", sources said, adding that the executive agency i.e. PWD, R&B has turned blind over malpractice. Sources further said that road has been in shamble for more than a decade, and it was being expected that the government would handed over the road to Border Road Organization. "If the road is to be handedover to BRO, may the central agency wide it", the sources said, adding that repairing works would cost more than five crore. "It will be fruitless, there is huge traffic on the road, it was need of time to widen the road", they said. "It seems that government is not willing to develop sub-district, located on Reasi-Raojuri, national highway that is about to complete", sources said, adding that however, the works on Reasi-Rajouri is going running behind the deadline, but it is about to complete. "Despite nodding from the district development board, it took one year to start work on road", sources said and added, "Case for sanctioning of widening of road is also under consideration, if the project got sanctioned in near future, the expenditure occur on premixing will into drain", he said. "It is a hundred dollar question being BJP in power at both state as well in centre, why funds for widening of road was not sanctioned?", they questioned.
