Early Times Report
srinagar, Aug 16: With the violent protests continuing in Kashmir Valley after the killing of Hizb commander, intelligence agencies have reportedly come to know that from last three weeks, crores have been pumped into Kashmir to keep the protests going.
Reliable sources told early TIMES that intelligence agencies have got inputs that approximately 24 crore have been pumped into Kashmir in the past three weeks for fuelling protests in the Kashmir valley.
"Pakistani has been sending the funds through its agents in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir," intelligence sources maintained.
They said that theses agents have been given the responsibility to keep the pot boiling following the unrest in Kashmir after killing of Burhan Wani who had become a poster boy for militancy in the state.
Following the volatile situation in Kashmir from last one month, over 65 youth have been killed while thousands of security forces and civilians have been so far injured.
It is to mention here that Khalid Jahangir, BJP Kashmir spokesperson had recently in a statement stated that the crores of rupees were pumped into strife torn Jammu and Kashmir during the past 25-years to "promote violence" and to ensure that disturbance prevails in the state. "Many cases were left half way due to unknown reasons. It's an established fact that Pakistan pumped in lot of money to keep the pot boiling and to sponsor terrorism in JK," Khalid had said.
Sources in the Intelligence Bureau admit that they are aware of the large-scale illegal funding, but add that they cannot do much due to the sensitive internal situation.
Admitting massive cash inflows to the Valley, sources in the state police says that the bulk of the illegal money is physically transferred across the Line of Control.
Many cases about separatists receiving money through Hawala channels were registered in different police stations but investigations were left half way.
Sources said that If Hawala cases are reopened many separatists would end up in a jail as investigations have revealed that they received money through various illegal channels.
Police in the past had unearthed many such connections but due to erstwhile political dispensation not paying much heed towards this very important aspect no action was initiated against the accused involved in this racket. It is to mention here that the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had said that Thirty seven persons have been arrested in the State for spreading militant activities using money obtained through hawala and Foreign Indian Currency Network (FICN).
In a written reply to recent Assembly session the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had said that a total of 17 cases were registered during the last three years and the current year up to May 12 in connection with the hawala transactions.
The highest eight cases were registered in 2013, followed by five in 2014, three in 2015 and one so far. "A total of 37 persons - 17 in 2013, nine in 2014, eight in 2015 and three in 2016 - were arrested during investigations of the cases," she had said adding over Rs 36.70 lakhs, 900 USD and 33 Gold coins were also recovered.
