Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Aug 16: Poor sound system spoiled the show at the function organized to celebrate the 70th Independence Day at District head quarter Kishtwar.
Angry people including parents of the children who participated in the function informed ET that Information Department along with Education Department and Youth Services and Sports Department failed to install quality sound system which not only disappointed the visitors, but also the participating students who worked hard for last over 22 days to prepare for the national day function. The people demanded action against the erring officials responsible. They demanded immediate shifting of information officials posted at Kishtwar for last several years and termed them burden on state exchequer.
The Minister of state for Transport Sunil Kumar Sharma along with Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ghulam Nabi Balwan also expressed their disappointment over the repeated failure of the sound system.
The annoyed Minister in order to pacify the people and the participating students announced two quality sound systems for Kishtwar District out of his CDF. He had also directed the DC Kishtwar to issue suspension order of District Information Officer and the officers of Information Department posted at Kishtwar since years together; however it was not confirmed whether DC Kishtwar issued any suspension order; but the official sources informed the "Early Times" that DC Kishtwar before the Independence Day function had expressed displeasure over the conspicuous absence of In charge District Information Officer Kishtwar and had written to Director Information J&K with the request to relinquished the officer from charge of District Information Officer Kishtwar with immediate effect over his non performance.
Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar sought explanation from CEO Kishtwar and District Youth Services and Sports over the failure of the sound system despite the fact that one of the committee members had expressed apprehension over the poor condition of the sound system installed during dress rehearsal at GHSS Boys Kishtwar few days prior to Independence Day function. DC Kishtwar had assured the angry parents that responsibility will be fixed on guilty officials.
