Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 16: It is the terrifying moment that Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu 'waved a gun ' in front of Minister for Health and Medical Education Department while Minister was taking meeting to resolve the matter of junior doctors in GMC&H Jammu for last three days, at PWD guest House Jammu.
Reliable Sources told Early Times that Minister for Health and Medical Education Department Bali Bhagat called a meeting today at 2 PM at PWD Guest House Gandhi Nagar and during meeting the Principal of Primer Health Institutes Jammu got angry on a issue and 'waved gun' in-front of Minister for H&ME Department and all Head of Department (HODs) were shocked to see the action of the Principal. "It is security lapse and big thing that a government employee waved gun during official meeting by disrespecting the presence of Minister for H&ME Department," Senior doctors, seeking anonymity, termed and adding, how is it possible that a senior doctor brushing aside the sanctity of the institution, crossed all limits of etiquette and dared to show personal weapon. It is not the first incident when the Principal of GMC waved his gun, on many occasions he committed such blunders. Even today morning, a security guard allegedly was beaten by Principal himself and also showed his gun to him after which the security guard managed to flee from his office.
Condemning both incidents, senior faculty members of GMC stated that Principal is 'icon' of faculty members, senior and junior doctors of GMC Jammu and it is mandatory that the respect of Principal Chair should be maintained but unfortunately the respect of the chair is going down for last many years by one or another reason.
When contacted Principal of GMC Jammu Dr. Zahid Gillani, refusing to comment on the issue, asked to contact the Minister to verify the allegations whether did I wave gun or not during meeting? And further said, "I didn't brandish gun because don't possess it, "he added.
Minister for Health and Medical Education Department Bali Bhagat was not available for comment on the issue.
