Two minors among five of family killed in road tragedy

Rajouri, Aug 16: A tragedy struck to a family in Rajouri district when five members of a family including two minors died in a tragic road accident arround 12 kilometers away from Rajouri town on Jammu-Poonch highway in the afternoon today.
"The deceased have been identified as lecturer Sajjad Ahmed his father Mohd Bashir and brother Irshad Ahmed, Wajahad Sajjad and Sanam Sajjad (both minor) son and daughter of Sajjad Ahmad, police sources said.
Police sources said that Mohd Bashir (75) resident of village Ari in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district had developed some complications and family members have taken him to Jammu for required medical examinations.
"The tragedy took place when all the five were returning to Ari in Alto car bearing registration No.JK12B-7280 when the accident took place at about 12.0 pm.
"When the car reached near village Dalogra either the driver lost the control of the vehicle due to high speed or drowsiness resulting the car to skid off from the road and fell about 50 meters deep in the river." said a senior police officer.
"Sajjad, Mohd Bashir, Irshad and Wajahad died on the spot as they got crushed inside the car while Sanam died on way to Hospital, sources added.
Police sources said, "On getting information of the accident Rajeshwar Singh, SSP along with Deputy SP and SHO rushed to the accident site and supervised the rescue operation but nobody can be saved and bodies were shifted to district hospital."
"After legal formalities police arranged Ambulances and sent the bodies to Mendhar while some locals having acquaintance with the bereaved family also accompanied the bodies, sources added.
Meanwhile the staff at Government Higher Secondary School at Piri (Rajouri) on getting information of death of Sajjad Ahmed who was a lecturer in the school also reached the hospital and provided every possible help in shifting the bodies to his home village, Ari.
