Union Government launches anti-farmer policies: JK Kissan Tehreek Union

Kathua, Sept.21:- Hundreds of Kissan from entire district Kathua today proceeded with Tractor trolleys and protest march towards DDC Office Kathua and submitted a memorandum comprising demands and alleged on Union government to implement anti-farmer policies. Banarsi Dass provincial President of Kissan Tehreek informed that Union government made tall claims of development in agricultural sector but refused to implement recommendations of Swamy Nathan report. He said, " Frustrated farmers are leaving the profession as hard for them to survive on agricultural sector," and criticized anti-farmer policies of both union and state government as due to these policies the farmer 's condition is deteriorating day by day.
Sewa Ram convener said that the crop in tehsil Kathua and Nagri Parole was ready for harvesting but there was not any procurement arrangement from the state government. He said," the farmer are compelled approach the local marketers who procured their paddy at nominal price ie from Rs 800 to Rs 1000 per quintal.
Mohinder Singh, a member of Tehreek Union raised demands like revival and strengthening of Co-operative societies, opening of at least one procurement centre in each Panchayat through FCI to save farmer from private exploitation, fix MSP and various Basmati varieties, Private market to be checked periodically, power tariff on pump sets should be charged from 3 months on the basis of Punjab government, issuance of KCC loan to all farmers without lapse of time, waving of KCC loan already announced in state assembly, swift compensation to the farmers whom Rabi crops were damaged due to heavy rains and hail storms during March 2015 and also to rabi Crops of 2016 dried due to droughts and less rains.
Kishore Kumar, Jagdish Raj, Romesh Chander, Jia Lal and others warned government aggressive agitation and blockage of National highway/railways lines if there demands are not being considered within days.
