Children Cry for Peace on World Peace Day

Jammu, Sept 21: Gandhi Global Family (GGF) celebrated UN International Day of Peace at Lawrence School under the aegis of United Nations here today.
A special program organized at Lawrence Public School Jammu on Peace in which students of eight reputed schools of Jammu participated.
The Students spoke on the significance of International Day of Peace and the need for bringing about peace across the globe. They said peace is their fundamental right and the elders have to work hard to provide them such environment.
They expressed hope that peace in valley will return soon and their peers will be back to schools. We are ready to pay any price to government to restore peace and normalcy in our state. We want to contribute in nation building but we need peaceful environment to achieve that goal, they appealed.
While launching a 12 days campaign from Peace to Non- Violence, Padmashri S.P Varma, Vice President GGF listed 36 components of peace based on Mahatma Gandhi Ideology of truth and Nonviolence. He underlined that peace is a slow process and can be achieved through practicing and preaching these components - Truth, Brotherhood, Equality, Impartiality, Tolerance, Non-violence, Justice, Co-existence, Mutual respect, No corruption, No drugs, Morality, No Child labour, Understanding, Co-operation, Oneness, One humanity, Environment-friendly, Good governance, Quality education, Good Health, Dignity, Strong institutions, Partnerships, No poverty, No hunger, Human rights, Employment, Women empowerment, Security, Character, Honesty and Respect All Religions. He further said that peace is prerequisite for growth and development in any nation, and we all have to work together to break the deadlock for saving our future generations.
The lives of associates of Mahatma Gandhi like Sarhadi Gandhi, Nelson Mendela and Martin Luther King are rays of hopes to achieve peace in our world, he added.
Shivam Vaid, Anjali Gorkha, Aditya Pratap Singh, Surbhi Rajput, Himanshu Bhau briefed the students about the components of peace. Cultural items were also presented by the students which included a peace song, skit, various cultural dance items besides poster making. Abhiuday Sharma, Raghav Vaid, Owais Yaseen, Sai Bhat, Abhay Pandita were adjudged best in poster making on this occasion.
