Arsonists set ablaze panchayat ghar in South Kashmir
2 held for torching schools in Budgam

Srinagar, Nov 17: Jammu and Kashmir police on Thursday claimed to have solved a case of burning and ransacking of two schools in central Kashmir's Budgam district by arresting two miscreants, while as on the same day arsonists set ablaze a panchayat ghar in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
The tourching of governemnt buildings mainly Schools are going unabated in the valley. According to the reports that some arsonists torched the panchayat ghar in the broader day light in Arigam village of the district Pulwama. While according to the eyewitnesses that late locals, police and fire service department officials are trying to douse the fire.
However , In District Budgam, Police claims that, "On 27 October, Government School Habbar Lassipora was set ablaze by some unknown miscreants. The school suffered damages in this incident. A case FIR number 68/2016 under section 436 RPC was registered in Police Station Khag, Budgam," said a spokesman.
It was also reported that a private educational institution namely Hanfia Educational Institute Shunglipora Habbar was also ransacked and damaged by some miscreants, he said.
"In this regard a case FIR number 69/2016 under section 148, 427, 451, 506 RPC was registered in Police Station Khag," he added.
He said a special investigation team (SIT) was formed to investigate both the cases under the supervision of SDPO Magam.
"During the course of investigation, a number of suspects were brought for questioning. During questioning, it came to fore that some miscreants used to create disturbances in the area by hurling stones on the vehicles as also damaging the public property in the area by pelting stones," said the spokesman.
"It also come to the fore that two of these miscreants namely Farooq Ahmad Malik alias Buda son of Ali Mohammad Malik and Bilal Ahmad Malik alias Durani son of Abdul Karim Malik residents of Shunglipora hatched a conspiracy to set on fire Government School Habbar Lassipora, as the school was located away from the human habitation. They managed some kerosene oil from their respective homes and used the same for setting the school on fire. Both these miscreants have confessed to their guilt. They had also ransacked Hanfia School. Both of them have been arrested and further investigation is going on," He added.
