Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 17: Two years on after it forged alliance with PDP to form government and over 8 months in the second phase of power sharing, entire rank and file of BJP is a confused lot, not knowing how to combat growing criticism towards the party and group of its ministers in particular. A party which claims to be having erudite lot on board including retired bureaucrats, ex army officers and politicians with vast experience lacks clarity on direction and every act meant to make the state unit stronger.
Sources said entire leadership of state unit which is otherwise putting a strong face in front of the workers and cadres is actually facing a huge dilemma of how to handle and tackle growing criticism against the party in Jammu region which earned it power. The leaders who try to enforce discipline within the party ranks are actually doing a cosmetic exercise as the resentment has grown to such an extent that their acts of persuasion are yielding no results.
Sources said even though the party claims to have on board retired public servants having loads of knowledge and experience and politicians of stalwart stature, their strategies or simple plans to dismiss the growing criticism is seldom working. These functionaries on board have not been able to give any concrete suggestions which could prove meaningful and beneficial for the party at a time when a divide is getting sharper between the ministers, legislators and cadres, not of speak of common masses who are angry over a number of policies adopted by the party while it shares power with PDP.
Sources said while common masses are angry with BJP ministers for their apathy and indifferent attitude, similar sentiments have reached a level of rebellion in certain quarters within the party, something which that has become beyond control of the leadership. Even though some leaders in a bid to paint 'all is well picture' are organizing occasional meetings with the workers and senior functionaries, but this is adding to the woes and seldom proving any solution to the growing 'grief', which has assumed proportion of a huge worry.
Lack of clarity on part of the leaders to act in a proper direction has started sending message within the rank and file that leadership is neither able to combat crictisim nor are they actually able to control or rein in its ministers who have become major cause of concern for the party as on date, sources added.
