According to sources, one Mohammad Sadiq has filed a complaint with the Prime Minister's Office alleging that the Revenue Department has shown in its records that the land on which Abdullah's mansion stands at Bathindi, Jammu is a private land. The land, the complainant says, actually belongs to the state. Taking cognizance of the complaint which has been filed through online grievance cell of the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir to take appropriate action. "Dr. Farooq Abdullah had encroached state land measuring more than five kanals under khasra no.6 of village Bathindi in Jammu district and constructed his mansion on it illegally," the complaint reads. The complainant alleged that the record was tampered with in 1998 to save the skin of Farooq Abdullah. "In the 1998 assembly session , one member raised the issue in the House. Thereafter, Dr. Farooq Abdullah got the registry of khasra no.21 of same village executed. Registry was manipulated and executed by an unknown person because owner of khasra no.21, Din Mohammad, has denied to have sold any land to Dr. Farooq Abdullah," the complainant alleged in his application. He added that the khasra number mentioned in the registry is actually away from the mansion of Dr Abdullah. "The record was tampered on the recommendation of Dr. Abdullah," Sadiq has alleged in his application. "I request you to kindly take strict action against Dr. Abdullah and other persons including the revenue officials who helped Dr. Abdullah to encroach the state land and allowed construction on it," Sadiq added. In his property statement, Dr Abdullah had mentioned that he had purchased 3 kanals of land situated at Bathindi from Choudhary Din Mohammad. But when contacted, Din Mohammad denied that he had sold the land to Dr Abdullah. Meanwhile, the PMO grievances cell has asked the Chief Secretary to take appropriate action in the matter.
