Invigilators turn facilitators of cheating
No check on unfair means in examinations

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 30: The claims of government to check mass copying in examinations have totally proved hollow as new innovations have come in use of unfair means in the examination and the invigilators have become facilitators of copying.
While Government claims that it has put an end to mass copying, the supervisory staff instead of keeping a vigil on copying in examinations is involved in facilitating the same and show answers to students in full public view.
During a recent National Talent Search Examination held at Nagbani School on November 27, an invigilator was found helping some students using mobile phone and then informing them the correct answers to questions.
Some students raised voice against the same as this way the invigilator was playing with the careers of other industrious students and putting the same into jeopardy. The act of the invigilator forced the students to raise their voice and report the matter to some senior faculty but instead of taking the action against both invigilator and student, he tried to hush up the matter and convince the complaining students saying that they too will be given the concessions if they want.
The senior faculty failed to register a case against the students and the erring invigilator.
This simply shows that the entire supervisory staff was hand in glove in this malpractice and they were fully aware of the matter.
This being a national level scholarship examination in which such a violation has been made by the supervisory staff itself has baffled every body and the educationists have termed it a grave issue. The students who are preparing for such an examination for a long time have expressed total anguish and displeasure with the supervision and monitoring system adopted for such examinations and demanded immediate investigation in the matter.
They demanded that the malpractice be stopped and strict action be taken in the matter and the supervisory staff and the authorities involved in conducting the examination be taken to task.
One of the parents of the students said that he feels very sad for the students of the State who might lose their ranks because of these malpractices.
