Sanctioned package for POJK DPs insufficient: MJR-47
12/2/2016 8:58:01 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 2: MJR-47, Movement of Justice for the Refugees from POJK 1947, held detailed deliberation regarding sanction of Rs. 2000 crore by GOI in favour of POJK 1947 DPs as also for Chamb DP's of 1965 & 1971.
According to press release, all the members were of the view that after long struggle of 70 years the govt. has sanctioned a package which is totally incomplete and insufficient. Against recommendation of interim relief of Rs. 30 lakh per DPs family by JPC on Home Affairs, the govt. has announced only 5.47 lakh per family and there is no mention of the total amount sanctioned per family besides other components of package recommended by state and JPC on Home Affairs regarding reservation for our wards in technical institutions, employment and defreezing of 8 Assembly seats out of 24 seats kept reserved for POK people, for those who are living in the states in Indian parts. This is complete betrayal and letting down the DPs, until or unless the GOI clears the total amount of relief being paid to each DP family.
they also welcomed the package only to the extent that our demand has been legitimized and recognized. Such an action reflects the mindset of the govt who were crying hoarse for the refugee cause before election for but have become totally indifferent to do justice to our long pending sufferings and woes.
Even the procedure worked out for disbursement of package has been made cumbersome and formalities required are difficult to complete particularly after seven decades. In majority of the cases original claimants are since dead, families have grown fourfold and each of descendent of the new family is head of his family unit, which leads to confusion and chaos and will make disbursement of package very difficult. This will also be leading to avoidable litigation.
They demanded, that full package be announced in one go and in case Rs. 5.47 lakh is the first instalment, the condition of affidavit should be waved off till the time of final payment. In this connection we have already given suggestions to make the entire disbursement process transparent, corruption and hassle free.
It is also most disgusting that 5300 DP families who were made to live in other states of the country have not been included.
How come these families have left over when they are PR state subjects of state, recommended and paid ex-gratia of Rs. 3500 in 1960, got allotment of quarters & land, for which of course they were made to pay the cost, have been disowned by the state as well as by GOI. It is further demanded that these families too need inclusion for all type of relief and other facilities as are being considered for those living within J&K State.
J.S Sudan, O.P Khajuria, Suchwant Singh, Dr. Padam Dev Raina, K.L Raina, Dalip Singh, Raghbir Singh, Jaswant Singh, Madan Lal Sharma and Raj Kumar Sharma were present on the occasion.
